Harmful effects of noise in our daily life

Although we do not realize it, noise pollution is a very serious problem that can harm our health without even realizing it. In our day to day we are exposed to many noises such as those caused by traffic, discos, concerts, planes, construction sites, etc. Noise can be a problem for our health According to a study carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO), there are approximately 9 million Spaniards who are exposed to noise levels that can exceed the 65 decibels per day established by the WHO as a maximum. This figure shoots up to 110 million in Europe, making clear the problem of noise pollution. Our body is not prepared for the noise generated in modern society, which can become deafening both in terms of power and quantity, and can seriously damage our hearing. In the most severe cases where there is a higher level of noise, the ear is not the only thing that can be affected, but various studies state that even the brain and heart could be affected. Noise damage at high levels In this case, it must be said that when 125 decibels are exceeded, the noise, in addition to being annoying, becomes painful. Especially considering that the threshold of this kind of pain is reached reaching 140 decibels. These noise levels can lead to deafness, but in other serious cases we can find pathologies of various kinds, some of them quite serious. Among them, those related to the cardiovascular system stand out and where we can find arterial hypertension, heart rhythm disturbances, coronary risks and even vascular excitability due to neurovegetative effects. The digestive system can also be affected, especially with an increase in gastroduodenal disease due to the difficulty in being able to rest. Likewise, the endocrine glands can also be altered, causing an increase in the secretion of adrenaline and producing pituitary alterations. On the other hand, we must not forget other symptoms such as problems concentrating and performing at work or in studies, observation problems, irritation, increased stress and mental disorders or even tendencies to have aggressive attitudes, among others. Without a doubt, this is a serious problem that must be addressed to prevent that number of 9 million Spaniards from being reduced as much as possible.
